Lobby Redesign and Co-op Branding by KDP Design.
The client looked for a new design of the 1950s lobby and entryway to rebrand the 192-unit residential complex, which had a diminished identity from numerous renovations. The large co-op building is situated in a dramatic landscape with views of the George Washington Bridge and the Palisades across the Hudson. It is within strolling distance to the historic Fort Tryon Park. Proposing to bring these points of interest into the lobby while deepening and contemporizing the 1950s vernacular became the object for creating an elevated experience in the space and location. Rigorous stripping away of superfluous elements while reinstating authentic architectural detail was complemented by KDP designed furnishings for a fresh look onto the period. The recalibrated space set the stage for a meticulously curated art commission by KDP. Lobby and Entranceway aim to provide a sense of home, sophistication and a distinct locale.
